Litter Update

Thanks to all of the great families who chose to make a Leiff Heintz Doberman a part of their family, we only have 2 red/rust males left! They are beautiful and have great personalities. They are 70% crate and potty trained. These two boys are 10 wks old and would love for you to make them a part of your family. Both of these boys are in Salt Lake City with our affiliates at Western States K-9 College. If you would like to make an appointment to see them please Call Joe at WSK9CO # 801-703-3870, she would be happy to tell you all about these boys and there temperament testing. While you are there she will interview you to make sure we are placing the right dog with the right family. Joe would also be happy to set up a 6 week training program completely customized for you and your dog.

TO BREED OR NOT TO BREED???

The first mistake people make is they multiply the selling price of a hypothetical number of puppies by what they paid for their first foundation female. They think, "Wow! What a great source of income!" Please read the cost breakdown I have done for your consideration.

Cost of show quality female                 $1000.00-$2500.00
Ear cropping of dam                            $250.00-$350.00
Testing for dam (OFA, vWD,
Thyroid,CMP, Liver Panel)                  $600.00-$1000.00
Prebreeding exam                                $75.00
Shots for dam                                      $250.00-$300.00
Stud Sercice                                        $1000.00 or POL
Cost of prenatal supplies                      $200.00
Post whelping exam (dam & pups)       $75.00
Tails/dewclaws for litter of  8                $320.00
Inoculations for litter of 8                      $350.00
Advertising                                           $150.00
1 years worth of dog food
for the dam                                          $600.00
Puppy food for pups                            $60.00-100.00
Possible Cesarean Delivery                  $650.00

NOTE: Another thing to consider is that there are many times when you'll have to keep a puppy or puppies for many months before the right buyer comes along. Food costs and veterinary expenses continue right on while the puppy lives with you. Breeding is not a "Get Rich Quick" program. I have been surprised by the people who believe that it is. So with some careful consideration my husband and I have decided that for all of our future litters we are going to charge significantly more for breeding/show quality dogs. Our pet price will remain the same. This is to encourage responsible breeders and to discourage people from becoming "Backyard Breeders", who don't care about the quality of the breed.

So you ask, "why do you breed?" Because I am absolutely IN LOVE with the Doberman breed. I am a stay at home mom who loves to be busy. I do make a supplemental income from dog breeding, but TRUST ME...I put a lot into it before seeing anything back! I honestly can make more money working at McDonald's part time. Because of breeding I am able to stay home and be available to our children and I am able to take care of my home, yard, and dogs and that is of major value to me.

We have carefully cosidered what is a fair price to charge for our dogs, so please be considerate of the costs that go into breeding and don't ask me to lower my prices. We feel our prices are fair and appeal to those looking for a pet or a breeding/show quality dog. We appreciate you taking the time to read this.
